Something which started as a hobby in the winter months, working a couple of Labradors and a couple of spaniels, beating and picking up game at shooting events, grew to become what is now the “Isle Of Canty Kennels”.

Leaving a smaller establishment in South Queensferry and moving to a larger smallholding with several acres of land with woods, on the outskirts of Dunfermline, Fife in Central Scotland in 1999, was the start of it. 

We are licensed breeders of Labrador Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels and Cocker Spaniels.  Our dogs are all working type gundogs, bred for temperament and trainability with several outstanding pedigrees amongst them.

We now have nine stud dogs, of which one is a Field Trial Champion, one a Field Trial Winner and one Award Winner (see Stud Dogs page).  Many of our bitches are fully trained gundogs, some who quite happily alternate between working and motherhood, others are those who didn’t quite make the grade, but are still fabulous girls who enjoy a spot of dog agility in their spare time……..

We seek to improve the breeds potential and capability in both working and pet environments.  Many of our pups go to working homes and are proving to be brilliant at it, both in this country, and as far a field as France, Belgium and even Orkney!
